The 2011 Mustang looks to continue that winning streak. While the 2010 was no slouch, Ford has primed the 2011 to be a game breaker. Powering the car will be an all-aluminum DOHC Duratech 3.7-litre V6, sending 305 charging ponies and 28 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels.

More impressive, Ford claims this new engine (paired with the six-speed automatic transmission) will get 30 miles to the gallon on the highway, an impressive number that would put it at the head of its class in fuel economy. Ford’s also offering the car with a six-speed manual transmission, a first for the company. An all new Electric Power Assist Steering systems helps save fuel and improve speed by eliminating the hindrance of an engine operated hydraulic power steering system. It would be reasonable to expect that Ford might pass over the Mustang and instead devote more attention to its other models since it’s fresh off a comprehensive revamp for the 2010 model year. However, that’s not what is shaping up in the House That Henry Built.
