Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The Australian division of Ford is not waiting for any crisis to be over before trying to entice customers to the performance showroom floor. To make this happen the company’s Ford Performance Vehicles division has released details of the F6 E concept which it plans to sell at about AU$78,190.

The F6 E concept is powered by a turbocharged 4.0-litre DOHC 24 valve in-line six. Maximum power is 310kW (421hp) at 5500rpm while peak torque is 565Nm achieved between 1,950 to 5,200rpm. Mated to this engine is a 6-speed automatic ZF gearbox with Sequential Sports Shift. FPV says the car’s average fuel economy figure is 12.1 litres per 100km. To help stop this high-performance vehicle on its tracks are Brembo brakes fitted for the 19-inch wheels.

The F6 E will be offered in no less than 8 exterior colours while the inside gets plush treatment from things like a sports leather steering wheel, cruise control, all-round power windows and dual zone air conditioning.

“The F6 E has been designed to satisfy calls from the market for more performance based executive vehicles,” Ford Performance Vehicles General Manager Rod Barrett said.
“With the release of this concept we will test the market’s reaction before deciding whether or not to put the F6 E into production. Feedback from our customers leaves us confident that the F6 E will be a hit with those looking for something more from their performance vehicle.”
